TPPA Awards

2026 TPPA Awards Nominations

The TPPA Awards Program recognizes organizations and individuals for contribution to their communities, public power and TPPA. One or more representatives of any TPPA member system may make nominations. The awards are presented at the TPPA Annual Meeting during the Awards Breakfast. The TPPA Annual Meeting will be held on July 20-22, 2026, at the Westin Austin at the Domain. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, May 29, 2026.

TPPA will present awards in the following categories:
 
Distinguished Service Award 
This award recognizes outstanding leadership and dedication to public power by an official of a TPPA member system.
Eligibility: Any official of a TPPA member system who has been active in the Association for at least two years.
Criteria: Official must 1) display exceptional leadership; 2) provide significant contributions to public power locally and in Texas.

System Achievement Award 
This award recognizes outstanding system achievement by TPPA member organizations.
Eligibility: Any TPPA member system.
Criteria: Member system 1) is widely recognized in the public power field; 2) have enhanced the prestige of public power; 3) have improved service to customers.


Paula J. DiFonzo Industry Achievement Award
This award recognizes women in public power who have made outstanding leadership and individual contributions to their public power system in Texas.
Eligibility: Any female employee of a Texas public power system who has been active in the association for at least two years.
Criteria: Nominees must 1) display outstanding leadership; 2) provide individual contributions to their public power system.


Gary Brown Service Award
This award recognizes outstanding leadership and dedication by a municipal official in a city served by a TPPA member utility.
Eligibility: Any official of a city served by a TPPA member utility who has been active in the association for at least two years.
Criteria: Nominees must 1) display exceptional leadership; 2) provide significant contributions to public power locally and in Texas.
 
John W. Davidson Honor Roll Award
This award recognizes service to TPPA by an elected or appointed official of a TPPA member system.
Eligibility: Any elected or appointed official of a TPPA member system or a corporate member.
Criteria: Nominees’ personal service to TPPA must have 1) made a substantial contribution toward the attainment of the goals of TPPA; 2) made a substantial contribution toward enhancing the prestige of the Association.


Public Service Award 
This award recognizes exceptional leadership and public service by officials in the public power field.
Eligibility: Any publicly elected or appointed official in the public power field whose actions have furthered the objectives of public power.
Criteria: Nominees 1) must have made a substantial contribution to public power; 2) must have made a substantial contribution to their community.

About TPPA

The Texas Public Power Association (TPPA) was founded in 1978 to serve as the voice of the 72 municipally owned electric utilities (MOUs) in Texas. The Association’s membership also includes several of the state’s electric cooperatives and joint action agencies.
